Jr. Roughneck Summer Development Program
The Jr. Roughneck Summer Program is designed for dedicated young athletes looking to elevate their game through structured, competitive, and high-intensity training. This program emphasizes hard work, discipline, and endurance, helping players build both physical and mental strength on and off the ice. This program isn't for everyone and will only accept the top 5% of players in the Seattle area. We are committed to developing elite talent through rigorous training and exceptional coaching.
Roughneck graduates have gone on to make elite teams throughout the Seattle area, including:
- 10U Select Teams at the Jr. Kraken
- 12U AAA and AA teams for the Jr. Kraken
- Jr. Kraken 14U B
- Everett Jr. Silvertips A1
- Seattle Juniors 12U A1 and A2
- Wolverines HPL teams
We can't guarantee success, but we can guarantee the opportunity for kids that want to work hard to train and develop at the highest levels of youth hockey in the Seattle area.
Program Requirements:
To be eligible for the Jr. Roughneck Summer Program, players must meet one or more of the following requirements:
- Birth years 2010-2017
- Played for the Jr. Kraken during the 24/25 season
- Registered for Jr. Kraken Spring 2025 programming
- Accepted into a Jr. Kraken 25/26 program
Program Schedule:
- Practice Sessions: 90-minute practices held on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer
- Ice Time Breakdown: Each session will be divided between:
- Skating and Skill Development
- Team Scrimmages to apply learned skills in a game-like setting
Tournaments:
- At the conclusion of the summer program, players will have the opportunity to participate in competitive tournaments.
- Depending on interest, 10U and 12U Jr. Roughneck Tournament Teams may be formed.
Training Philosophy:
The Jr. Roughneck program is not for everyone. It is designed for players who are ready to embrace a higher standard of effort and commitment. We instill the values of perseverance, grit, and teamwork—because iron sharpens iron.
Try Out Information:
Try Out Registration Fee: $30
Try outs will be held on June 6, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Smartsheet rink. During the try out, we will evaluate skating skills and hockey fundamentals. All players will receive written evaluation forms for feedback.
Space is limited to 15 skaters and 2 goalies per 10U and 12U group. Results will be posted within 24 hours of the completion of try outs, and acceptance into the program comes with the expectation of registration.
Program Cost:
$450 for the full summer session
Includes:
- 12 hours of on-ice instruction
- Official Jr. Roughneck jersey and socks
- Dryland training program to support off-ice athletic development
